What to Do When You Lose Motivation

Anybody can get motivated. We all have these “bursts of energy” where we feel like we can take on the world. You start eating healthy and you hit the gym. You start feeling good and you get on a routine. Until life sidetracks you and all that momentum and motivation are suddenly gone. You wake up and you have no idea what happened, but you feel down. In order to comfort yourself and “get some stress off”, you go on a destructive eating binge and baaaaang, all that weight you shed off and all those gains you have been making in the gym are gone. What do you do?

Your case isn’t unique by any means. The purpose of motivation is to get you started to do something, but motivation will fade away, make no mistake about that. Most people who succeed inside and outside the gym will tell you the same thing. Life will hit you hard, and that’s where your weapon of DISCIPLINE and CONSISTENCY come in handy to protect you and keep you on track. There will be days where you don’t feel like going to the gym, and you don’t feel like working on other projects you have going on, but your discipline and persistence will see you through those days.

Take the greatest athletes around. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lebron James, Lionel Messi, Tiger Woods, Maywhether and put them all in one room and ask them about motivation and they will talk about it for few minutes, ask them about discipline and you won’t hear the end of it. So next time on those days where you have low motivation remember to stay DISCIPLINED and CONSISTENT, and sure enough the motivation will come back to you as you continue to make progress inside and outside the gym.
